My name is Selena Pellet, and I've gone from a professional dancer to an award winning dairy farmer. The first career that I chose was to be a professional dancer. Unfortunately, a couple months after graduating with my diploma of elite dance performance, I had a mountain biking accident. That meant I could no longer continue down the dance career path. Went through rehab and we, as a family, moved out to the Gloucester region. The dairy farm had a couple of jobs going and I was getting very excited about learning more and more about the industry.

And so from there, they were able to offer me a traineeship, which is where I then started to attend Tocal Agricultural College. We were then introduced to Canvas. It made life a lot simpler. It was very straightforward. We were able to just log on in the first thing in the morning, see what we needed to do throughout the day, and then build on that throughout the week while we were here. And then as a remote student, when I'd go back and work full time, we were then able to receive notifications very quickly from the instructors what we needed to do as a practical side and the continued theory on the farm. So coming from a non agricultural background, the use of Canvas helped me to kind of set where I want to go in life and grow and prosper and look up into the future and help bring dairy farming to life.
