You want. Good morning. Alright. Welcome, everyone. Welcome to join my assessment today about the mobile learning. I see, people keep coming in.

So welcome, welcome. Good morning. And good afternoon. So I will not see webinar now, and everything will recorded so you can watch the recording later. Welcome.

And my name is Code. I'm the, solution engineer. Base in Melbourne and covering the, APAC. So, today I'm talking about the mobile learning. And the importance of mobile access mobile app, etcetera, everything mobile.

In related to the, the online learning experience. So we start with the, some of the background, some of the kind of introduction first. Why mobiles matter? Well, I think this is not a really a questions because everyone now today you know, really, really relied on the mobile devices or mobile experience. For me, I use the the phone all the times, smartphone, as well as my tablet, not just because I I I rely them on my work. But I actually use it personally and professionally.

So what about the mobile usage or the adoption in the world. Let's look at some facts or the figures. And we actually have a survey contact recently. Let me see the data. It was yeah.

The latest one. I think it is just conducted last year, and we conduct the survey around over four thousand eight hundred high education are learners around the world and come up with this data. So, basically, quit just asking the, the education institution about, you know, how likely or unlikely that they use the mobile app to access the LMS, the learning management system. So, in the law firm, I mean, the law of America, there are there's about, like, forty four percent. And then a forty five percent and fifty six percent.

And, Europe and Asia Pacific respectively. So what these status tell us, by looking at the green color, the right one, in case, you cannot beat the color, On the right hand side, this is the number in Asia Pacific. So this is our number. This is the number reflecting the, the usage of mobile app. And the, the e learning environment.

So there are fifty six, more than fifty percent, and it's the highest among all the other regions in the world. So that means, yes, it's actually reflecting the truth. As far as I know, we use the mobile extensively and immersive you know, in Asia or in in ANC, in Asia Pacific regions. So, they tell us that, like, most of the users prefer use the mobile app to access the LMS. That is similar to the other industry or domain as well.

I will mention it in a in an experience slide. But this is just telling us the truth, reflecting what's happening in APAC or around us in all the Asian or the ANC institution. So the next slide is Yes. To be calling you will be shared after this sessions. And well, for incidently, we also provide the native app.

I mean, of course, we do. In case you haven't used Canvas LMS in the past or you may have extensive experience already, you probably heard of this, like we are mobile friendly. Yes. We are. So we have the mobile app, tailor made for student, teachers, and parents.

So we have different apps specified, I mean, specifically designed for different audience, and we have some common values across all the mobile apps. First of all, are accessible. We want to make sure that all apps or the content will be accessible and simple. This is our design goal. Right? Everything in Canvas is, you know, in intuitive and it's simple to use.

That's our design goal. So you ought to in order to make sure everyone can access our learning material, in a simplified way, we provide the mobile app so that they can accept it anytime anywhere. An equity explains We also provide the same features and functionality as in the web browsers. So something like high, crunchy smoke, the large tags, or, you know, the, the screen reader functions are all available in the mobile apps and the mobile device as well. And lastly, of course, we wanna make sure the mobile apps is flexible.

Well, personally, I carry my phone everywhere I go. Like, go to the office or go to work or even you know, just sending my my daughters to the school. I have my phone all the times. Well, so that I can receive the notification from work or from my colleague offer my customer. We also want to have this same experience to the student and educators.

So that they can have their own inbox. They can have their own calendar, looked at vacation, WeMiner, so on and so forth. Is all flexibly available in their mobile device. And I want to show you a quick video. It's not too long.

Maybe around two minutes long, and I want to see, how our Canvas mobile app impacting our customer and the student in the Palo Alto College in the in the States. Well, we understand there are maybe some differences between different regions this is a very good use case and customer reference because the users and the learners at Palo Alto College are actually facing difficulty and challenges as us in APAC, like the limited connectivity, or lack work, You know, they may have some difficulty in financing their computer equipment, etcetera. So Let's see how Canvas can help them to make the dispute success. This has been a challenging year because it's really brought to light accessibility. Palawful College, located in the rural side of town.

Right? So some of our students are located twenty, thirty miles outside of city limits. And there there's no good internet providers out there. The students we serve here at Palo Alto College and San Antonio in particular, has one of the highest levels of income and equality in the nation. And so the faculty acknowledge that we have a different student population and have tried to identify how can we best support our students. How can we reach where they are? The Canvas app.

The Canvas app. The mobile Canvas app, Canvas on your phone. The app is super helpful because, I mean, really everyone's got a phone. Not a lot of people have access to laptops or tablet or like a desktop or anything like that. So having the phone, having app be able to be you can check things there.

Everything's really nicely laid out too on the on the Canvas mobile app. All your courses are right there in the front page. You can edit it with how you see what colors you want. You can even, like, the classes. It's really cool.

Having the app honestly has helped me so much because everything I do is I do through my computer and sometimes I can't be at my computer, like when I'm working or at rehearsal where I'm out with family and just having the app there being able to pull out my phone and see what I need. And it's so much easier than having to, like, wait all day to get home and, like, check through everything. It, like, notifies me, like, with every little thing that changes, and it's just really helpful. I think it's so important to have Canvas on your phone because there are sometimes that my internet is not the best. And I have the opportunity to grab my phone and access anything that I need when my laptop isn't working.

If I'm out and about, it is such a great way to contact your teachers on the go or your classmates and stay connected regardless of where you are. Even when I'm sitting at my computer, Sometimes I'm scrolling through canvas for my own courses on my phone because in many ways the functionality is better, and more seamless there than it is on the computer, and it's more immediate as well. You know, I know and the students know that they can just pull out their phone and get to whatever information they need in a matter of seconds. I think that being able to provide, this instant connectivity has transformed teaching, truly. The accessibility to that has just been, It's really brought a lot of equity, I think, for our students, to be able to do robot learning.

Sorry. Cold. You're on mute. Can you give me now? Yeah. That should be alright.

Sorry about that. Yeah, what I said was this, thanks for watching this video with me. I watched the video a couple of times and it's really, you know, impactful to me because I feel like we are not we are not alone. We are not the only regions or country facing this connectivity issue. You know, the example or the customer in the video was facing something similar, like, poor connectivity maybe have some financing problem.

They may not able to buy or affordable to buy the, the computers, laptop, or mobile devices. So we try to make things simple and make it accessible and equity. So that is purpose because everyone deserve the rights to learn, equally. So let's talk about some of the advantage or the values of using the Canvas app in that particular college. But let's see.

This has been a challenging year because What is Canvas? Or what is the value of using Canvas at a hole? So for those who are new to Canvas, We are the learning platform. We actually went around four different, principal or decide, theories we try to make things simple and easy to use. That is the main purpose because, as I mentioned earlier, we try to make students everyone can use it, can access the content, no matter where they are, like, they may be trans, you know, computing, they may be, on the, on the job training, whatsoever, they can still use it in a fairly intuitive interface. And engaging is another key element of campus because we try to make everything more engaging and interactive so that the instructor can communicate with the student easily over the web and the mobile platform. Reliable because we run and decide and architect on AWS infrastructure.

So we have the very, very high reliability and scalability, advantage. In order to serve or our our customer around well. And the last point is, open. We this is very important and is the core of the session today. In fact, because Canvas is built on the open platform and open standard so everything is open and easily accessed in and out of the system.

And we also expose the open API. So our mobile apps are all developed around the mobile. I mean, the open API in fact. So that we use the own our own API to build the apps to extract the data, to build the user experience, and that student and teachers use this mobile device or mobile apps, leading the out. This is the openness.

So speaking with the mobile app, this so some highlight that is available in both iOS and Android platform. So no matter which mobile devices you're using, iPhone, Android phone, or maybe iPad or Android tablet, you can always go to the App Store and Google Play to download our app free or charge. And Canvas is responsive PCI. This is important for a mobile device because, Well, some of the, the rumors saying Canvas is not responsive defined and is only available and decided for the desktop browsers. And this is not true because we actually I mean, everything is responsive.

So in case your interest you will see some more demonstration later in my, demonstration sessions, but you can just, you know, use Canvas web on any devices in any form factors. So no kinds of breast user or sizes are also be fine when they use the canvas. And this is about the, the different apps. We have a student app, teacher's app, and parents app for different audience, we build three different apps because of their different nature at different dates. So we tailor made for them, and build out three different apps.

And I also will highlight some of the, the parents' features And, in my demonstration later, because, while this app is designed for parents, for around the K twelve environment, It is like a over the soda bill so that the users, I mean, the parents or the, the caregiver or the mentors can log into Canvas and view the student grades and to feedback that the student is able to see on their profile. And we built around these three apps for three types of users, mainly. And then, they all got a pretty high rating on the, the Google Play and the App Store respectively. This is, you know, all reported publicly by the users. Is not something, instructor published.

This is actually the real time data. And, well, I we actually welcome this kind of feedback because this also give us a indicator how useful of the mobile app or how much effort we need to spend in this area. So You heard about Canvas. You heard about the Canvas mobile app, but how many users actually use our mobile app? So we conduct another survey among all of our customer and try to understand how they use Canvas on the mobile device. And then turn out is pretty obvious result.

We have, like, around ninety percent of the users saying yes. They use the mobile app to access the Canvas mainly. And above four percent of the users use the WAV only and six percent don't use the mobile app at all. So they're like, well, don't use the mobile app. And then, they're more, like, the, use other formal factors or the, the computer to rebuild the the content.

But the fact is it is reflecting the truth as well, like, ninety percent of the the users rely on the mobile app in the daily life and the deities studying or learning life. And another questions we conduct was how often do you use the Canvas mobile app? And it was about ninety five percent of them use the Canvas app at least once a week. And later on, we find there's a more and more users, use the system, I mean, use the app several times a week and even several times a day. So it's getting more popular and the lumber is going up. So that means the mobile adoption is pretty successful.

And just, you know, as expected. People really, really rely on mobile device to access to the Canvas. I have another example. Like, for me, I use the mobile app for all the finance and banking purposes. Like, I have my my banking app installed in my phone.

I'm sure all of you will have a similar experience. I can do many different kind of online transactions like transferring money to my friends, to my family, all night to the mobile app. I still can use the web version, but I would say, like, more than ninety five percent will use the, I would use the mobile app instead. So that is the same thing applied to the, learning environment that most of the students use the mobile app. But what are all these data tell us? That tell us, one, the importance of the mobile experience, And two, we need to make sure the content is easily accessible on the mobile device so that we can reach out to the students or to the users as designed.

So we have a couple of different apps. Right? The Canvas use, Canvas student app, parents app, and teachers app. So for the student app, you can almost have the same experience as the web person. Meaning you can have this student app and then use, like, more than ninety nine percent of the functionality as in the web browser experience. But for the teachers app, we intentionally decided slightly differently because we understand the teacher's environment, and then we we try to make sure they will leverage the mobile device for some of the handy job So we try to break it down into, the app and the web version.

We understand which area that the TSA reviews most. And we find out that during the courses, most of the teachers will use the app for some instant communication. For some, you know, quick sending some message or broadcasting some announcement. They can also use the app most of the time to update or modify some of the assignment settings, like change to due date, or even they will use the teacher's app to do some grading. And for some advanced modification work, like create some assignments, create some quizzes, create the question bank, maybe create and analyze some of the outcome to the assignment, and the content creation things.

Teachers probably need a better experience so they will prefer to use the web version to do that kind of task. So we try to break it down into before the cost or prior to the cost, and during the cost, different usage. And they can still use the web to do, you know, this kind of task, but we find that most of the users will use, like, more than fifty percent of the time in the app for the in person or the online doing the cost activities. So this is the last slide. We have just released the mobile offline functions.

To the mobile app, specifically to the mobile, pull to the, Canvas student app so the student can actually download the content and synchronous each to the device offline. And then they can read the content offline and then, like, on the go. So this is something new. It's still, on the, on our road map, but you can try it if you use Canvas right now, or you've tried to explore some of the offline content access features. In, in a disconnected mode.

For now, I would jump into a live demo and showing you some of the mobile app and its experience. Okay. So old bound device. So I will use my iPad and mobile phone for this demonstration. But, but it will be the same or similar if you're using Android or other devices.

So this is my iPad. So I have many different apps installed, but I want to highlight to you that, I have this student app feature apps, and parents' app installed in my devices. So I will now start with the Everest Student app. So I have its login as a user as a learner, and You can see that I am now disconnected. So let me connect back to the internet.

So this is the the mobile app for a student. I'm looking at the student, and then I can see some of the, the announcements and what's happening in my institution. So this is similar to the web interface. I mean, you can see different courses that I'm enrolled in in a grid format. You can see different card.

And now I have eight courses assigned to me. And on top of the screen, I can see there's a little announcement right here. This is the place where the instructor or the administrator broadcast and and message, publicly, and this will be available to all users in your institution. It can be something like a combination of text, video images, etcetera. And in this case, I actually, just use one video and some of the, like, important announcement, important content broadcast by the administrators.

From a student perspective, I can see some ad hoc message right here. And if I read it, I can just simply dismiss it. And I can also see something in progress. This is actually one of the conference happening right now. So if I maybe lates to assessors, then I can still see, oh, that's some conferences is running right now, and I can just click and join the sessions on my mobile device immediately.

This can be our b bone built in big boot button sensors, or this can be your, you know, Zoom meeting or a teams meeting, etcetera. So, the student can have the flexibility to join the sessions from their the mobile device. Speaking of the, the content, I can see all the courses. I can see some of the highlight, like the average score, on top of each course card. This is configurable because I can just, put the three dots on the top right hand corner and then, control some of the settings.

Right here, I can change the view from the grid to a list You can see its ability on the left, or I can sew the marks or not. I can have the cutter overlay so that will be consistent to the web experience. Meaning, you can color or, analyze a cost, and then everything will be synchronized through your web browsers or to the web experience as well. So, this is what I can configure. But before that, I can also, so use some of the settings on my student app.

I can change the appearance, like oops. Let me make sure it's full screen. Yep. I can change the appearance, like, the, light film or dark film. Well, depends on the, personal preference.

I'll always like light film. And then you can also control the email notification. It is similar to the location setting on the web browsers, but you're now controlling the location on this mobile device. And you can have different location channel and cadence on different mobile devices. But for this iPad, I want to be safe, for example, all the submission of the vacation in B Day.

Or I can change this to daily, weekly, or don't send me anything about this kind of activities. And another example is for the due date, I most likely wanna receive the immediate notification about anything changed in the due date for me. So this is what and how I can order the electrification cadence and the, the frequency. Click back, I can also use these features, which is called a subscribe to calendar feed This is, very useful in my opinion because you can actually synchronize everything happens in your institution to your personal, calendar in your device. So let me click on this.

And it actually allow me to add a subscription to the canvas calendar feed. So that means I can actually synchronize all the activities to my calendar in this iPad so that I can carry it on the go I can still see all the assignment due date and all the activities, etcetera. If I want, I just one click the URL, and then it will launch the, the, the web browser version. I mean, the, the particular assignment to me immediately on my calendar view. So I can have it on the go.

Anything changes in the Canvas will be synchronized to my iPad Canada as well. You can subscribe to calendar in your Outlook, Google calendar, or whatever you want. But the point here is it integrate with the iPad candidate or your tablet in Canada so that you can have your institutional activity due date on the go. Going back to the, student app. And this is about the offline content.

I will mention it later. But let's take a look at the the course itself. So from a student perspective, I can see all the courses right here. And then I can see all the groups that I belongs to underneath. So this is, something like the interest group but I can take action in VAD eighty and but dissipating it, like, click on the link, and then I can go into that particular group.

And I can also see the cost content. If I click, one of the costs card, like the left one, the music course, I can immediately see the course menu on the left and the course material on the right. So this is the cost manual, which is sim similar or simplified on the mobile device. As you can see, I can have the manual, like the module, the assignment, the quizzes, so on and so forth. All available on the left.

And if I want, I can just click on one of the module, like the sample module, Maybe the first one is a sample assignment, and then it will load the assignment to me. You can click the sample page, and then this is another simple, dummy pages, and discussion, so and so forth. So this is the full functions student experience on the mobile app. I can actually click reply and then reply the message. On my iPad device.

Let me expand the screen. It's easier to read. So I am now responding to this message Hey. Maybe I wanna check someone, Anna, my buddy. What do you think? So I can actually, post this message on my mobile device.

And then, or I can also modify it, and then make use of the multimedia functions on my network device. Like, we call them video or we call them, image I mean, take a take a picture, etcetera. I can do all of this out of my iPad. So I can, take a picture like this, and then I can also submit it to the, the message body. You can do the same to record a video.

You can make a very interactive and engaging content and response. Onto this, discussion thread. So this is about the discussion. You can also load a quiz. Of course, because we assume a quiz if you have already picked a quiz somewhere.

So this is a sample quiz, but I can resume the quiz. Meaning, you may have taken quiz somewhere else, maybe on the web, or maybe yesterday. But now you had just launched the quiz and we assume it from where you left off. So that means you can see you have answers, question one, q, and five. And you probably go to question three.

This is a challenging question. That's why pause yesterday, and now you may resume it today on the, on the iPad. So I can keep working on it, but wait. I got to go. So I will exit this quiz.

Maybe I can resume it later on my web browsers or maybe I I'm heading back to my my school, and then I can resume the quiz from the web or from the school computers lab, you know, later. But the point is everything is synchronized and you don't need to worry about, like, saving the stays or, you know, remembering or finishing or everything before you head out. So this is about the quiz and the mobile experience, but what I wanna show you more is like this one, Oops. This is something I cannot access it because it's locked So this is intentional. I haven't finished the second item.

So I need to finish it first. And this is another video quiz that I am actually integrated with, x five p. This is another, you know, video platform where I can watch the video, and then I can also take some quizzes or with some more extra material on top of the video. You can see something similar on Canvas Studio as well. And the point here is you can have the, you know, same list integration with multimedia content with third party content all in one place, all in the mobile app.

So I will click next. And then, maybe I should mark it as done, and then I can move it to Nix. And then it will open up the next item which is a, combination of a studio video and some the hera craft. So this is, a video embedded in the the page, but I, of course, I can read it and listen to it. But I also want to show you some other features on the mobile device if the, the document annotation features.

So maybe you can embed a content into your course module, like a PDF file, and word document, and Excel spreadsheet, whatever you prepare, you can just upload and embed your course. And on the mobile device, this is the content that the student is reading, and they can actually make use of this click to pan on the top right hand corner to use the built in annotation tools. So this is by user friendly because, when they're on the go or when they're with something, they probably want to jot some notes. Or maybe, you know, annotate on the documents. And they can actually make use of this pen online, and then, use this as the annotation tools.

And they can change the color, they can change the format, But the point is they can use this annotation tools on any documents in the mobile app. They can save it and this is only visible to the student himself or herself. Meaning, this is a personalized annotation tool. You can save this annotated documents and submit it or share to, to the instructors. For example, I have a a document submission assignment that I need to turn in a document to my instructors.

I'm now I think I finished rebuilding and editing this document. So I'm about to click this share button, and then I can just fill out the Canvas Student app on the list. Where I can select the course lane and the assignment name so that I can just stop beat the annotated documents to my instructors immediately. Can I say I want to submit it to my instructors, and the music cost, I can also add some comments? This is my first attempt. Okay.

And then I would just hit submit so that this image at the bottom will be submitted to my instructors in mediating. So this is the annotation tools. This is quite handy for learners. And we also supports the integration where the external tools. So You just saw the camera studio, video, embed, because, some of the external tools may not be able to embed in the Canvas app.

I meant, due to the security reason, they may not be, able to render within the Canvas student or teachers app. But you can still wield it in the local browsers. So you can launch it in the web browsers In this case, there's a safari browser. You can still launch the video and then view it. So for any external tools like the LTI tools, you still embed and let the student play it in the mobile app.

Another functions that I want to highlight was the, one of the assignment. I want to show you this. This is, quite important and pretty common because we allow the users to submit an assignment and that it can be integrated with herd party tools, like, turn it in. So they don't need to use the turn it in or any third party app in the mobile device. Everything is, you know, in Canvas ecosystem.

By looking at this assignment, let me unnotch it, I can see. Alright. I got a nineteen point or twenty. And the mean is thirteen point four, and I'm here. Well, it make me feel good.

I got a pretty high score, and then I can see the assignment description, everything about this assignment. That's great. And I can also see the submission and the Rubik the submissions mean all of the previous submission that I have made. So by looking at this, I can see there's a a video submission by myself in the s, I can scroll and then look at maybe the attempt seven. This is, another submission by me and attempt six, I can review all this previous submission and all of the you know, call man or annotations, in the record.

So I can see all of this history. This is useful because I don't need to use the different app or I don't need to, you know, have a different nooks taking tools, but everything is within Canvas. I can do the annotation. I can review all the previous submission. I can learn and grow and resubmit and so on.

So this is my automated student app, and then I can see all the video submission, and my score, of course. So if I want to resubmit this assignment, I can do it right now, and then I can, you know, submit different kind of material depending on the configuration by my instructors. I can submit, like, a URL, a media recording, cloud upload, or a studio video. If it is a a media upload, super easy. You can just select the, the audio to be called a audio clip or a camera to be called a pictures or a video.

And then you can also submit something from the library. Library means something that store in your, tablet device or iPhone or iPad. But what I wanna show you here is the, capability of using the, the file or the material on any third party platform. Let me show you again. I just select the file, and then I can see the different location on the left menu.

This is actually, right, on my iPad, on my icloud drive, or on my Google drive, or a Microsoft one drive. This is very handy for the students because sometimes they may use Microsoft work online to develop some of the content, or maybe they use the Google Drive or Google documents, to prepare the responses or visas, etcetera. They can actually just browse through the voters in Canvas when they are about to submit. They can select the file. I mean, browse all the file and then, submit it right away to the instructors.

So, in this case, this is a, a submission type of assignment, so the student can submit anything they like. But, for the multimedia contents, like you really wanted to a hands on exercise, and you are allowing the students to be the video, like, so it means how we do something, in action, that kind of questions or assignments, can allow them to take the screenshots or take the video on the fly with their mobile device. So, back here, you can select the Google Drive document or the Microsoft OneDrive, you know, to, to attach to this assignment and then submit it to the instructor. I just submitted it. Yep.

This is super easy, and then I can I can move on to the next question and so on? This is a very, very useful and unique features of Canvas student app because you allow the student to have everything within one single platform. And the next thing I wanna tell you all is the Canvas teacher app. We have another teacher's app developed So, the teachers can just, you know, use it to do some of the tasks on the go. But instead of this, locking in to the mobile app, I wanna show you another way to log in to the teacher's app. Since I have already logged in on my wrap experience, And then I I've got to go, and then I just want to switch quickly to my mobile device.

So I can just use this mobile QR cook login features to log into my mobile device directly. I can select the QR code login button. Next. And then scan the QR code. And then it will lock me in automatically.

And then I can just grab my iPad and then walk out of my room immediately. But everything will be keep in the same state. I can still accessing the content, on the go. So that is one of the, very useful features for those users. We don't want to type in the username and password again and again, destined by assessments, So, okay.

This is the, the teacher's app. Let me put in the full screen. And then I can see, yeah, I'm teaching in seven different courses. I can have the same functionality, like, change the the look and feel or the color overlay, etcetera. And again, this is consistent as the the web user user interface.

The one I wanna show you the mobile experience on the teacher's app, or what kind of features that most of teachers like about our h two s app. First, they like our grading tools to speak with which is phenomenon. I mean, they can use our iPad or tablet apps to grade the student work. This will save them time from, you know, sitting in front of a computer or staying late at school, but just do some grading. They can have it on the go, can also do some grading on a couch.

They can do it anytime anywhere. So how can they access this? They just simply let's go to the, maybe the module or the assignment that they want to create. And then they can see all the assignments that, like, two list marking, one list marking, so on and so forth. Or they can see the to do list and, in the middle of the bottom menu so they can click and then find out all the outstanding tasks. That the instructors need to do.

Going back to this assignment page, I can see all the assignments right here And let me take one of the example. To be this one, I have one assignment waiting for me to grade. So, I can see the assignment description. Let me put in full screen. Assignment description.

Assignment, details, etcetera. But what I'm concerning is how many people submitted and how many people have not submitted. And won this market, I'll come back here in a second. So for those who have bought already, okay. Just click the number, and then view all of the name and their respective score.

So right here, I can see all fifteen students I can also click the add to look buttons, so as to send a message to all this student. So I made this, title message, cheat them up, great job. And then, thanks for them to submit the assignment on time. Or I can take a step back and go to those who happen to submit. I would click on the number two.

And then I can see, for those who haven't submitted and then do the same, like, send a message to them. But for those who needs marking, I would just click and then see the actual work submitted by the student. So this can be a video. This can be the document, a PDF file, whatever that the student turned in. It doesn't matter.

I can still use the pad or the annotation tools to do my grading. So let's say I, trying to highlight some changes and highlight some features about this student world. This is supposed to be an error, but anyway, this is the my annotations I give to my student. So I can also pinpoint to him or her, like, this is, a a great response. So I can give them a very specific feedback, on a particular, paragraph or a sentence that students submitted to me.

So this is the annotation features. And as a instructor, again, what I'm doing now, I'm doing some grading, and the personalized feedback to my student. So I can look at the the work on the lab, and then I can review and give them a grade on the on the right. And I can also build a rubik so that I can review the work as well as assessing the outcome or the the grouping that they get accordingly. I mean, I can I'm gonna give them, full marks on this assignment, and then this student, rankings, he got a full marks twenty of twenty, because he's accident, but wait.

I wanna change my mind. I will give her a zero point got a notation. So, yeah, the marks will be updated automatically. And then I also want standard a feedback to ranky I would probably be called a a video message to her because everyone liked a video message. So thanks for submitting the assignment ring key, which is great, but, I think there's some improvement there where you can do it.

So come see me. I will tell you in person. So, she just sent a message to my student link, and she gets the notifications immediately on her Can the student app. So to click the message and then view my recording and then go back to the assignment, maybe revise the assignment and resupply. This is the workflow.

This is, well, a little more great, grading inquire. So I'm I'm done on this assignment today. So I can't communicate with the student in instantly. I can do the grading on on the go. I can view my student status or I wanna find out why they haven't submitted on time.

What happened to her, and then Yeah. It's empty because she haven't submitted at submitted yet. Link. What's happened? I would just click on her name and then the system will low be her record of some reason. So, what's happening on her, I can see all of the score of her previous submissions.

I can see what's going on, how many assignment that she submitted, how many that she late. Wow. She has sixteen missing assignments. Probably, she is every busy in her you know, personal lives. So I probably need to meet her and then discuss with her seriously.

So this is this episode telling you, what's happening about this, the student, what is her every score, what's happening in the past, or, across different assignments, and then maybe you can send a message to her. See the envelope icon? Yeah. This is handy. I can just, schedule a meeting with her. You see, I just type it auto corrections, or I can even use the, the case and functions.

Hey, Lane, can you please come to my office next Friday morning, please? Yep. It's done. So I just, you know, make use of the mobile device, including, but not limited to the auto corrections, dictating, voice recognition, speech to text, you know, whatever you you wanna use. I can also record a message. I mean, voice message or a video message.

Making out of the, the mobile device. So I sent a message to her and try to schedule assessment with her and discuss with her seriously. So, this is about the, the teacher's app. And last but not this, wanna show you quickly about the parents app before I move on to the q and a and discuss soon. So parents app, is well, that's the name Explain it is that the decided for the parents, so that they can see what's happening about their chooses.

I log in as a a parent here. I can actually see I have two kids. I mean, two children studying in the same school. And they and they, how they pull progress and how they work in, in the school. I will choose ringkeepers, and then I can see all of her courses and the essay score.

And then I can click into one of the subject, like, music course, For example, that's because I used in this, demo. And then fifty seven point five, this is well, in my opinion, this is marginal. And then I can look into all this assignment and the grades. And then how many assignment that she submitted or laded or didn't submit it? Oh, submit it late. And what's happened? And then I can click into this assignment and find that, well, is it really extreme, difficult and challenging for her? Maybe I can help her a little bit.

But wait. She haven't submitted or submit late. Maybe I should say that we neither to myself as a parent I mean, I can set a reminder before a due date so that I can, you know, personally remind my kids doing the dinner time or doing a lot of times so as to, you know, friend if you invite her. The student can do the same. They can set a reminder on any task on the student app, but as a parent, I am you know, particularly interest in a gray performance, and reminder so that we can walk break it out, you know, altogether.

And then, there's a front page where you can still see the course material from the parents or or caregiver perspective, but it is well, I don't think you're interested in this teaching material at all, but you can still see it how it's going, where the students, progress in the module, etcetera. You can see it and view it as a parent. But you cannot submit the assignment on behalf of the kids. Wow. That is, you know, carry all by a very obvious reason.

So, this is a a quick highlight of the parent map, where you can see the gray, the reminders, how the student progressed, how to perform in their, campus, online learning experience. So I would take a pause here and then check the, the inbox or the q and a and see any questions you may want to ask. So let me see the Q and A. Let me start from the newest one. Don't forget the swipe feature between students of business.

Oh, yes. Thanks for, reminding the Gen, this is, a very, very good questions, but because when we do the grading, like this one, I have a field student need to create and I can quickly, you know, look at the submission here, give them a score. This one is a sliding bar. And then once I finish, I just swipe from the right to the left. You see I swipe the screen? I just swipe it to the next student, next student, and next student.

Where I can just, you know, speed grading the the student well. That's why we call the this tool called SpeedGrader. Bank or, the suggestion, Jan? And see how much time we left and the outstanding question. So is that you are design, both hours, and what intentionally different? That's a good question. Can, and that's what I think good to see you again here.

Well, this is, yes, by this side, because iOS and Android have very, very different in nature by this side in the, the mobile OS. So we try to leverage the, the advantage of different OS accordingly. So that's why you may able to see some features only available in the iOS, but this is actually the iOS unique features. So that's why you can see it, in the Android Canvas app. This is not we are trying to hide something on the Canvas app, but, this is because of the, the core, the, the nature of the of the, different west.

And, standing with documents or guide for customizing the CSS Yes. I think so. I think we have some, branding style or a starting guide that's maybe, available on our Canvas community. I may find it for you after these sessions. But, but, yes, we should have something you know, available on the community so that I can share with you directly.

I will drop down this question and ask my team to to share the resources with you later. We still have time. Yes. We have a few minutes left. Let me see.

Oh, there's a question for my friend from our NUS. Starting the mobile use, are the stand broken down by role instructor student? Are you talking about the is a way that I present at the very beginning of the the sensors. If so, then this is, yes, this is by all rows. This is not just instructors or not just a student. I mean, I have so due to different survey Let me take a step back here.

Go back to the survey. This one. And, for this question, Do you use the Canvas mobile app? And, yes, this is for the student only. We ask the students specifically how they use the mobile app? And for the usage. I mean, the the frequency, this is correct me if I'm wrong, and you said this is, a combination of teachers and students.

But I I can chat and and then get you the, the actual answers, but, I think we, well, we're we're quite reliant on the students so we can turn a very, very, to still survey from the student users? At the start. Okay. Let me see. This one? That's a good question. Yeah.

I I actually I I asked the same question to my, to my team internally before this webinar, where did data come from and and who are the target audience? And the answer was this is from the student. This is from the use, the student voice. So, we ask the student only how they use the mobile app to access their LMS. This is not necessary. Be just campus.

To be fair, we ask the student or the survey is actually asking the student for all the LMS in the world, not just in structured campus. So they maybe, come from different LMS, but this is the very, very, you know, generic response from the learner from the student, how frequent that they use the mobile app or use the the mobile device to use their, you know, in in the in the education ecosystem. Yeah. You're welcome. So let me see.

I think that is it. Right? This is the, or the question in the q and a chat. Yep. I can't see any other outstanding questions. So, it is about time.

So thanks for your time today. Stay with me for the last sixty minutes. And I hope you get a understanding about, how important it is around the, I mean, the mobile apps around the education environment, But, well, no doubt. I mean, we have admitted it mobile experience and mobile devices. It's just, fair way to and, in law's today's life.

So, thank you for attending this webinar. We will share the recording, and then, please give it a try and download the mobile app in case you haven't tried yet. Thank you.
