Chelsie Gustafson suffered a severe accident last year which left her paralyzed. She worked hard in rehab to be able to come back to her students and work full-time again. She is an inspiration to all of a positive attitude, perseverance, and dedication. 

Mr. C is really good at keeping the students engaged. He can make ordinary things seem really funny. He has taught for 15 years and before that, he served in the military. He is a really good and amazing teacher!

My favorite part of Prof Saouma's inorganic chemistry class was the diversity curriculum she created and taught alongside the normal course material. She encourages STEM students to care about issues outside of science and is a cheerleader for each of us. (Nominated multiple times)

Mrs. Frank inspires her students daily to strive for excellence even through adversity. This past year she received a back fusion, but still inspires her students to reach for the stars. She teaches special education and her students know their potential  

Melina Mauceri is an invaluable asset to our school. Working with students who have severe disabilities, she encourages and supports her students to find their voice in this world. She works tirelessly to help them develop the skills needed to succeed.

Gabby is a preschool teacher for deaf or hard of hearing students. She works with students ages 3-5 to teach them how to listen and talk using hearing aids and cochlear implants. Gabby is amazing at what she does and deserves recognition!!

This teacher greatly inspires the students by letting them create their own perspectives and help them to achieve their goals, as well as by always giving a full perspective on the subjects being taught.

These last couple years, covid has impacted children’s education all over the world. During this time, our principal, Mr. Collins, has went above and beyond to keep a safe and loving learning environment for all the students.  

Lincoln Elementary is a Title 1 school which means that the majority of our students are highly impacted by poverty. The students at our school come from all over the world and speak over 24 different languages. Mr. Collins is an African American man who is a great role model to the students. In a diverse school, it is powerful to have someone in a position of power that students can relate to. The majority of administration, teachers, and staff in Utah are white. Mr. Collin’s unique position in a leadership role as a person of color provides representation for our students. One example of this was a story Mr. Collins shared at a staff meeting. A student on the first day of school pointed to Mr. Collin’s skin and exclaimed “You look like me!” As Mr. Collin’s builds relationships with students, it shows students that they too can hold positions of leadership in their future.

I admire how he supports all the teachers and staff here at Lincoln Elementary. I started my teaching career in January 2020 right before the pandemic happened. Each morning, he comes around to check on staff individually and builds personal relationships with every teacher. I am so grateful to work for such a supportive and uplifting principal during my career.

Nani teaches Special Ed/Resource. No one spends more time and effort with her students than SpcEd teachers. She deals every day with kids with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, behavior issues, etc. Nani's previous students come back from Jr High to say thanks!

She teaches with love and compassion to those who need it most. 

Her kids are very disadvantaged, but she doesn't let that get in the way. Her kids get her best every day, they know they are loved!

She works at a Title One school with low income and refugee students. 

A lot of these students have a rough home life and she dedicates a lot of her time in school and at home making those students know they are cared for and get the education they deserve

Justin's classroom is a Safe Haven for students because Justin exudes acceptance, encourages curiosity, and allows space for students to feel their emotions. 

Justin does not require students to fit in, he meets them where they are. He is saving lives.

Braxton was Dixie State University's Class of 2019 valedictorian and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in English and an emphasis in secondary education.

Braxton teaches language arts at Bingham High School in South Jordan and aims to spark creativity and passion in his students while helping them grow into stronger readers and writers.

In addition to teaching, Braxton coaches Bingham's track and field, soccer, and basketball Unified Sports/Special Olympics teams and works as his school's digital teaching and learning coach, helping teachers improve their pedagogy through the targeted use of instructional technology. 

She encourages the kids with the most positive attitude all while fighting breast cancer. She teaches them to love learning! To reach for the stars! There is no one better or more caring. She genuinely loves her job and her students!

On the first day of every new school year, Mrs Cher Sten says the same thing to the students of her Parkview Elementary K-6 classrooms: “I respect you”.

Mrs. Sten believes her purpose as an educator is to empower young people to become proactive, kind, creative, and productive citizens through the learning experience. She strives to create an inclusive classroom where every student feels safe, validated, and can thrive. 

Mrs. Sten studied Elementary Education at Utah State University. She went on to teach 3rd grade for two years. While working to receive both Gifted and Talented and English as a Second Language endorsements, Mrs. Sten began teaching as a Gifted and Talented Specialist. Last spring, she completed her Master of Fine Arts Teaching degree at the University of Utah and  Integrated Arts endorsement.

Alexa Olson graduated with her associates from Weber State University, and then received her bachelor's degree from the University of Utah. She is currently working on getting her master's degree at Western Governors University. 

Mrs. Olson has been the head high school swimming coach at Bountiful High School for the past five years and this is her first year teaching. She teaches a credit recovery and study skills class that is designed to help students earn credits so they can graduate high school. 

Every day Mrs. Olson set’s personal and academic goals with her students to help them become better! She says that she is grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing kids every day and for the lessons they teach her.

Alison Bulson teaches physics students in grades 9-12 at West High School (WHS) in Salt Lake City, UT. She is passionate about teaching physics in a manner that makes the subject accessible and interesting to all students. Since joining WHS in 2017, Alison has been mentor and advisor to the school’s For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology (FIRST) robotics program. She is currently the head mentor to the school’s FIRST competition team. Alison also advises the WHS Women Tech Council SheTech club.
