How does it work?

Enable offline mode

Once the institution’s Canvas admin turns it on, students will have the option to download certain parts of courses and access them through the Canvas Student App.

Automatic sync

While real-time communication is not possible during the offline mode, the automatic sync capabilities allow students to capture offline changes, allowing students to sync course content upon reconnecting to the internet.

Manual sync

This option is always available if the student wants to update the downloaded content. The student is able to do manual sync ad-hoc even if the Auto-Sync has been set in the Settings. However, if the Manual Sync has been set, then the Auto-Sync won’t happen periodically.

Manage offline content

With the Manage offline content capability students can customise it and only download those parts of the course that they want to see offline.

Multiple users

The functionality allows multiple users to download content on the same device, facilitating access to educational materials on shared devices.
